Heuristic

The word “Heuristic” is very close to my heart from my high school days.I pin everything in my life around this word.It is an adjective which is pronounced as hyu-RIS-tik and from the Greek word “heuriskein” meaning “to discover”.When my mother started cooking she knew nothing about it apart from its spelling. She later turned out to be the best cook in my life. You would surely hear of her cooking adventures in my future posts.
No ones comes into this world with divine all-round knowledge. We learn and unlearn everyday and a lot of it is intelligent guesswork.Even Darwin’s theory of survival of the fittest is thinly woven around this idea.

For me cooking is strictly heuristic where the formula is derived from experience. There are two very basic ground rules and a alchemy of both is “Heuristic Kitchens”.

Trial-by-error : There is no organized hypothesis but rather it is characterized by repeated, varied attempts which are continued until success. For example our geeky scientists.
Rule-of-thumb : Pertaining to the use of the general knowledge gained by experience. For example our diplomatic politicians.

I would like to thank the huge community of cooks, writers, stylists, and photographers that i come across each day and that help me make new discoveries in my journey.I would be updating this list as and when i get inspired by someone.

  1. Hi Pallavi,

Its been a pleasure to have known a bit of you & your culinary skills & like the way you trace back each memory of your’s and associate it to the food you cook ,all through this blog.Sometimes the way a person writes tells you how well read & passionate he/she is about certain things in life !
I have heard quite a good amount of praises from Guru for the way you cook & fortunately have had a chance to taste a few handmade chocolates ,brownies.Must say they were really good
Would love to catch up, over a dinner maybe ?;)

    Regards,
    Sneha

    • Dear Deeba,

It makes me squeal to get a comment from you. I really admire your work and the way it weaves an authentic tapestry of stories about food heritage and definitely your heuristic approach. You are a Pioneer for our homeland. Please keep inspiring….! I want to remain as a food story teller.

  4. Hi Roy,
Isn’t it a wonderful journey going back to our roots!
I think that expats make some of the greatest bloggers and storytellers, as they are just as adventurous about the future as they are appreciative of the past.
Young Monk, they are many rivers to cross! Enjoy the discoveries!

    • Hi Sophia,

Welcome to my space. I truly agree somehow our umbilical chord remains with our motherland and we learn to weave stories around it.
