Once Upon a Box Hill | Art of family Picnics

FamilyPicnicIdea_ByRoyFamilyPicnicIdea_ByRoyPique-Nique which is a French word meaning to “pack a trifle”, it found its way into the English dictionary later in the 18th century. Well Jane Austen knew the sense it derived and has created the most romanticized picnic scene for EMMA. Back in those days, it were the servants & butlers who toiled to create this movable feast. For me it is a way of enjoying a place of relaxation with great sight & good food. You foster a relationship with a small group of people and these relationships form a harmony in our life. No matter whatever the size of your picnic, I had been fortunate my parents created every opportunity to take us to waterfalls, dams, hills and rivers and in their own sweet way to celebrate pique-Nique with us. So in the 21st century, grab a blanket and a nice sandwich and enjoy summertime.

In my picnic basket I have packed a baguette , lemon& pine nut & mint pesto, Harissa chicken (all in one) , summer cherries from farmers market and smoked cheese to nibble. For drinks I love appetizer and my hubby loves beer. That’s it, a few rounds of SNAP , some grass slinging and a photo shoot while we stuffed and chatted. I can’t exactly recall for how long lounged under the yew trees canopy.
