The word “Heuristic” is very close to my heart from my high school days.I pin everything in my life around this word.It is an adjective which is pronounced as hyu-RIS-tik and from the Greek word “heuriskein” meaning “to discover”.When my mother started cooking she knew nothing about it apart from its spelling. She later turned out to be the best cook in my life. You would surely hear of her cooking adventures in my future posts.
No ones comes into this world with divine all-round knowledge. We learn and unlearn everyday and a lot of it is intelligent guesswork.Even Darwin’s theory of survival of the fittest is thinly woven around this idea.
For me cooking is strictly heuristic where the formula is derived from experience. There are two very basic ground rules and a alchemy of both is “Heuristic Kitchens”.
Trial-by-error : There is no organized hypothesis but rather it is characterized by repeated, varied attempts which are continued until success. For example our geeky scientists.
Rule-of-thumb : Pertaining to the use of the general knowledge gained by experience. For example our diplomatic politicians.
I would like to thank the huge community of cooks, writers, stylists, and photographers that i come across each day and that help me make new discoveries in my journey.I would be updating this list as and when i get inspired by someone.
